goals

College life can be burdensome. An individual can only bear
the weight of so much stress before day-to-day existence can become overwhelming.
Many students are not aware that the staff at the Georgia Highlands College Counseling
and Career Center understand this and strive to assist those in need.
"We exist to support students," said Phyllis Weatherly, director
of Counseling and Career Services. "Our goal is to help students
stay in school and reach their goals."
Certified counselors staff the Georgia Highlands College Counseling and Career Center.
Individual counseling sessions can be set up by appointment. Sessions
typically last about an hour and are often scheduled on a weekly basis.
Counseling services are free of charge and confidential for registered
students attending any Georgia Highlands College campus site.
"We offer a variety of services," said Weatherly. "We have
relaxation tapes, catalogs for all the schools in the state and we have
a resource office where students can come and check their email."
The Counseling and Career Center is located on the Rome campus at AA-26
in the Administration Building.
The telephone number is (706)-295-6336 or 1-800-332-2406. Weekly hours
are 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Fridays.
