Soldier's letter from Iraq an 'eye-opener'

Dear Editor,

I am writing in regards to the "Letter from Iraq�" article of the Jan. 31st newspaper. When it comes to the war in Iraq, I try my best to stay uninformed. An incident pertaining to the war was introduced to me and has absolutely traumatized me for the rest of my life.

Back in April of 2004, I was shown the video of the beheading of Nicholas Berg that took place in Iraq. The video was posted on the internet and someone pulled it up on a computer screen. From watching that video, I developed Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome causing my anxiety to sky-rocket.

Now, I am horrified of anything portraying to the war in Iraq. As I was walking through the halls of Georgia Highlands College, I picked up a copy of the newspaper and began to read it, not expecting to find anything relating to the war.

Fortunately, I saw the article, "Letter from Iraq�" but decided not to read it. Then something sparked my interest, causing me to read it. I took in all the information the

American soldier had written. It really hit home though, knowing that he is from Rome, Georgia.

In all actuality, as frightened as I am of Iraq, I would love to hear more soldiers' points of view of it. So thank you to everyone involved in posting this article. It was a great idea and a big eye-opener!
