Eileen Walker, advising coordinator, and student Zach Green, won the 20th annual Turkey Walk / Run sponsored by the intramurals sports department.
Walker and Green won the coveted turkey prize, $25 gift certificates to Honey Baked Hams.
The rules were simple; each participant guessed how much time it would take him or her to walk or run around the lake.
The male and female winners were those who come in closest to their estimated times.
The event was held on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 12:30 p.m. on the track around Paris Lake behind the Georgia Highlands College library.
Thirty-two people participated in the Walk/Run.
The record holder for the Turkey Walk/Run is Dr. Ralph Peters, professor of sociology.
"My most memorable moment," said David Mathis, physical education lab coordinator, "is when Ralph Peters came within three seconds of his estimated time."
Peters, no stranger to running, calculated his time by allowing for slippage in the gravel and adding some extra time to his normal two-mile run time on pavement.
