Library Associate Brittney Ozmore and Coordinator of the Writing Center Aly Gilmore hosted two events on Feb. 13 to celebrate Valentine’s Day. “High Tea in the Library” took place that afternoon, inviting students to enjoy a Bridgerton-themed tea party.
The second event, “Love Letter to a Stranger,” allowed students to anonymously write a message for a random recipient and take a letter for themselves.

“High Tea in the Library” had many activities for students to enjoy. Organizers held a raffle with prizes, a Bridgerton-themed matching card game and an arts and crafts project with paper flowers.
Flowers, jeweled crowns and ceramic tea sets decorated the event to represent the Netflix original series “Bridgerton.” Hosts served cookies, cupcakes and other treats along with Milo’s tea and lemonade.
Hosts of the event planned these activities to promote the Book Club. However, the raffle was their biggest event for doing so. Students could only enter the raffle by writing their name on the club’s sign-up sheet.
Organizers aimed to gain new members through this effort. Some of the raffle prizes included chocolates, a gummy bear, Bridgerton socks and two journaling packs.
Ozmore and Gilmore appeared to collaborate, as the letters for “Love Letter to a Stranger” were set up for students to participate in at the tea party. The letters aimed to spread encouragement and kindness in the spirit of a love-themed holiday.

“Dear Stranger, if you could see yourself through others’ eyes, you’d see how truly special you are! Never lose your shine,” one note read.
Another letter provided encouragement for school. “You’ve got the heart to knock out the semester!” it said.
“You are so much more special than you know. You have the power to spread love and peace and to be the change,” another note read.
The Book Club and Writing Center hosted these events with themed decorations, activities, and heartfelt messages to encourage student involvement.
