Plenty to do during Fall Break

Looking for something fun to do over Fall Break?  Several events will be taking place Oct. 10-14 around GHC campuses.

Rome
On Friday, Oct. 10, in Floyd, there will be four football games taking place: Rome vs. Dalton, Coosa vs. Gordon Lee, Armuchee vs. Model and Darlington vs. Dade County.

The Rome and Floyd County Cardboard Challenge will take place at the Coosa Valley Fair Grounds Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to play and learn by using simple materials to build the things they imagine.

Also on Saturday, at 4 p.m., there will be a Lux Aeterna Concert held at Garden Lakes Baptist Church with live classical music hosted by the Rome Symphony Orchestra.

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the Pollard Greens Jazz Quartet will be playing live from Brewhouse Music and Grill starting at 6:30 p.m.
Also on Tuesday, there will be Magic Night with Charles Wright beginning at 6 p.m. at Buffalos Café of Rome, along with dance night at Opi’s Roadhouse beginning at 7 p.m.

Cartersville
In Cartersville on Friday, Oct. 10, there will be haunted Halloween Hayrides through the town of Ravenwood. On Saturday, Oct. 11, the Halloween Hayrides will continue, along with a tour of Old Cassville Cemetery beginning at 3 p.m.

The USDDN Disc Dog World Finals will take place at Dellinger Park on Saturday, and will carry over to Sunday, Oct. 12, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. Competitors will compete for the USDDN World Championship title.

Douglasville
On Saturday, Oct. 11, in Douglasville, there will be a tour of the BTFP Fernbank Museum beginning at 8 a.m.

Paulding
The 2014 Paulding County Public Safety Appreciation Day Family Festival will be taking place in Paulding, on Saturday, Oct. 11, starting at 3 p.m., as well as a performance by The Big Chicken Beatles band at O’Neal Plaza beginning at 7 p.m.

Marietta
In Marietta, Saturday, Oct. 11, begins the Marietta Chalk Fest, held at the Cobb Museum of Art, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. The event will be held Sunday, Oct. 12 as well, during the same times.

Also on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Greater Atlanta Coin Show will be held at the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel and Conference Center.
