The Floyd Student Center is currently under renovation. Todd Jones, vice president of student affairs, says the renovations should be done in October, though it is possible for them to be finished sooner.

Currently a small section of the Student Center has been opened up for students to use while the renovation is ongoing. The game room has also been moved to a temporary location to the right of the cafe.

Jones said the plans had to be revamped to work with the changes in the budget for the renovation. The current plan is for a more open atmosphere for students to enjoy, alongside more seating options. There are also plans to replace the flooring as well as the windows. TVs will also be placed in more areas.

The game room will be expanded and it will have improved lighting. There are also plans to add an Xbox area for gaming.

John Spranza, student life coordinator for the Floyd campus, said events can still be held in the Student Center, but some will have to be done somewhere else like outside or in the Lakeview auditorium. He said, “We have to be more creative with the location for events.” He said that Student Life will have access to only a small section of the Student Center for events till the spring.
