Pedro Zavala, former Six Mile Post editor-in-chief, placed fourth in the 2014 Associated Collegiate Press Photo Excellence Awards.
Zavala took the picture during the 2013 Turkey Run Walk, which happens every fall semester on the Floyd campus.
“It’s truly amazing to have placed nationally, something I really did not expect,” said Zavala.
Zavala’s picture was categorized as General News.
“I saw the other ACP finalist and they were very good. I didn’t expect to place, but I am very thankful to have represented Georgia Highlands College.”
The photography winners were announced at an awards ceremony at the National College Media Convention in Philadelphia Oct. 31.
