May 4, 2015
Fifty-two GHC students, employees and guests participated in the 30th annual Alabama Shakespeare Festival trip to Montgomery, Ala., on April 25-26.
Those who took part had a guided tour of the Alabama State Capitol. Participants then took a walking tour to the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr. was pastor, and the National Civil Rights Memorial.

Those on the trip saw professional performances of “As You Like It” and “King Lear.” The whole cast of “As You Like It” came out and talked to the audience following the play.
The trip also included a picnic lunch on the ASF grounds and time to explore the 250 acre landscape park.
John Spranza, Floyd student life coordinator, said, “It was a really good trip. We had fun and the weather turned out better than expected. We got several compliments from folks we interacted with on the trip on how great our group was.”
The trip is sponsored by student life and the humanities division. The annual trip is open to students and employees from all GHC campuses.
