Georgia Highlands students participate in annual fall Leadership Conference

Georgia Highlands students participate in annual fall Leadership Conference

On Friday, Sept. 26 a Leadership Conference was held on the Cartersville campus. 58 students in total attended the meeting. The Leadership Conference happens once every fall semester and serves as an introduction to the Emerging Leaders Program.

The main speaker at the conference was Del Suggs,leadership development speaker and author.

John Spranza, student life coordinator for the Floyd campus, who was also a speaker said, “I think he did an excellent job.”

There were also other speakers, like Megan Youngblood, coordinator of student life for the Cartersville campus, and Lyric Sprinkle, coordinator of student life for the Paulding, Marietta and Douglasville campuses.

Suggs spoke on many things at the conference. In his first speaking session he covered the basic sources of leadership and five ways to become a better leader.

In his second session he talked about recreating your organization to keep it fresh and improving it with organizational structure, meeting management and goal setting.

In his third and final session he talked about how you can achieve anything with proper goal setting and a plan of action development.

Spranza spoke on how to best promote and advertise events and how to be creative with it without spending a lot of money.

Youngblood spoke on how to identify your leadership personality and how to communicate with leaders of other personalities.

Sprinkle spoke on how to best transfer your experience with learning how to be a leader to real life situations.
