The Gaming Club is looking for new officers to support its growing organization. According to an interview with the club’s current president, Angelina Christ, the number of officers dropped about three weeks ago.
Club Advisor Lilly Hayes, says that she is looking for people ‘to help more reserved students feel welcome in a community where they can relax from their studies and socialize within the Gaming Club.’
The club is now focusing on finding officers for the Marietta and Paulding locations. However, the shortage affects all GHC campuses, including online students.
The loss of officers is mainly due to students graduating and transferring to other colleges. It is common for students to graduate and rotate out every few years, creating opportunities for new students to bring fresh ideas and perspectives.
“Some people had medical issues, and just… all these wrong coincidences, all at the wrong time,” Christ said.
Gaming Club Officers have a variety of roles, including President, Vice President, Treasurer and the newly added Public Relations Manager.
Some of the jobs of being an officer include coordinating club events and making other members feel welcome. Officers are the representatives of the club and set the example of what the club stands for.
The club is looking for people who are willing to take charge and commit to their role as an officer, someone who is focused on their academics because education should be a priority.
Upon advertisements created earlier in the semester, that application is currently closed. Any interested students can contact advisors like Hayes ([email protected]) directly if they would like to apply.
Students can also join the club’s Discord server to ask about officer applications.
