For a little while longer, students and faculty on the second floor in the C Building of the Cartersville campus may smell more than just coffee.
Three students in the Applied Studio Practice class taught by art instructor Chelsea Carver are finishing the final 10% of a mural that has been months in the making.

Sketch #1 begins the process toward the final digitized graphic.
Since the start of the fall semester and continuing into spring, Applied Studio Practice students have worked closely together to brainstorm ideas, sketch designs, digitize final graphics and carefully grid both the graphic and the wall to create the mural.
It is not the first mural on campus, but it recognizes the addition of a film studio and multiple film pathways that prepare students to be set-ready after completion.
The students followed guidelines to develop the mural’s final layout.
“Our clients wanted something simple, our mascot and school colors,” Lynn Casier said, an art student preparing to become an art educator.

Emilio Hall, another art student who aspires to become a design architect, added that the class also followed a guideline to create a style similar to Banksy’s work, the popular street artist and activist from Bristol known for simple but moving pieces.

Carver mixes blue and white to create atmospheric depth in the landscape.
Carver described the final design as a GHC film crew shooting a western in Cartersville.
Carver praised the class, noting how well students work together. Students echoed that all members bring strong ideas and that collaboration has been easy.
Though they planned to finish during the fall 2025 semester, they are continuing to paint without a set deadline. The mural is located in Building C at the end of the second floor.
