Georgia Highlands will host a series of events during March and April to celebrate Women’s History Month.

At the Cartersville campus, events begin with a Community Resource Fair on March 1, 8:30-10 a.m. Submissions for the Cartersville Campus Carolyn Hamrick Memorial Women’s History Month Essay Contest are due March 15 and winners will be announced on March 23.

Other activities on the Cartersville campus include a viewing of the film “Iron Jawed Angels” on March 17, 12-2 p.m. and a discussion of the book “Lean In” on March 21, 12-1 p.m. There will be a reading with Q&A with poet Laura Newbern March 22, 12:30 p.m. and a job fair on March 23, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be a presentation by Lisa Williams from Living Water for Girls April 12, 3:30 p.m.

Floyd Campus will be hosting a series of readings titled “Voices of Women” on March 22, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. and a discussion of the book “Lean In” on March 23, 2 p.m.

Marietta campus will be hosting a presentation by Meredith Ginn entitled “From Astronaut Wives to Sally Ride” on March 10, 12:30-1:30 p.m., as well as “Voices of Women” on March 22, 12-2 p.m.

Paulding and Douglasville campuses will host a Women’s History Month display and trivia contest throughout March. Both campuses will also host a screening of “Rosies: Stories from the Homefront” on March 8, 11 a.m.-1 p.m at Douglasville and March 9, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Paulding. The film discusses women who worked as part of the war effort in WWII and features firsthand stories of their experiences.
