Bryce Pitts, Highlands student at the Marietta campus, won the 6th Annual GHC Public Speaking Competition held in Cartersville on Friday, April 15. The title of her speech was “Stop Sexual Violence on Campus.” She beat out 70 other student contestants in order to win.
Second place went to Elizabeth Edwardss and third place went to Kiki Thomason, both from the Douglasville campus. Edwards’ speech was called “The Power of One” and Thomason’s speech was titled “Becoming a Tree After Death.”
The other finalists were as follows:
4th – Ashley Hudson (Cartersville) – “Implementing Cursive in Common Core”
5th – Josh Jones (Douglasville) – “Graphic Novels in the Classroom”
6th – Jared Acreman (Douglasville) – “The Dangers of Tattoos”
7th – Justin Jones (Douglasville) – “Make a Big Splash in This Small Pond”
